What is NitHost?

A hosted service for managing your websites, applications, databases, HTTPS certificates, and backups. See What is NitHost?.

Where do I log in?

Your panel URL from your hosting provider (often https://panel.example.com).

I cannot see a site or action

Your role, site permissions, and site type determine the available controls. Check Roles and permissions, then contact your Site Manager or NitHost support.

Sites

How long until DNS works?

Depends on TTL and resolver cache — minutes to 48 hours. Verify with dig.

Do Node.js customers need SSH?

No. Upload through File Manager or SFTP, then use the panel with manage permission to start the app. See the Node.js upload workflow.

Start Node App or Build & Restart?

Use Start Node App for an app ready to run. Use Build & Restart when you need to install updated dependencies or generate build output. Current NitHost skips an absent default build script, but still fails when an existing build script fails. Older installations may report Missing script: "build"; use these recovery steps.

Can I run any command in the site actions menu?

The menu runs predefined actions. It is not an interactive terminal for migrations or arbitrary commands. Ask your provider about shell access if your application needs it.

Why is my Node site 502?

App not started, wrong proxy port, or crash — Node.js.

Can I change PHP version later?

Yes — Edit Site. Test application compatibility first.

How do I stop WordPress asking for FTP credentials?

WordPress Tools → Fix permissions + Enable direct updates.

Databases

Password was not saved — can I get it again?

Generated database passwords are shown once. If you saved the connection in the application configuration, retrieve it through an authorized configuration or secret-reveal flow. Otherwise, have the database user password changed and update the application connection.

Which database should I choose?

WordPress/PHP → MariaDB. Modern SQL apps → PostgreSQL. Document/GridFS → MongoDB.

SSL

Certificate failed HTTP-01

DNS, port 80, or wrong target — SSL troubleshooting.

Can I use Cloudflare?

Yes — DNS-01 with a zone-scoped token on the site.

Backups

Are backups encrypted?

Ask NitHost support about the protection and retention included in your backup service. Keep downloaded archives private; they can contain database data and application secrets.

File restore broke my app

Contact NitHost support before restoring an application provisioned by the hosting service. A file-only restore may not include its database or other required state.

Deployments

Push did not deploy

Check auto-deploy settings, the selected branch, and deployment history — Connect a repository.

How many releases can I roll back to?

You can roll back to successful releases still listed as available in deployment history. Retention depends on your hosting service.
