Run and restore backups
Create a site backup, browse available recovery points, and restore only after checking what will be replaced.
Who can use this page? Site Managers and Users with manage permission where backup actions are available. Contact NitHost support if backups are not enabled for your service.
Run a backup
- Open the site's … menu.
- Choose Backup This Site.
- Open Backups & Restore and wait for a successful entry. Starting a backup is not the same as completing one.
Scheduled backups, retention, and available restore points depend on your hosting service.
View history or download
Open Site Actions → Backups & Restore and check the snapshot's date, status, contents, and size. Download the archive when available. Download links can expire; request a fresh link from the panel if necessary.
Archives may contain application files, database data, and configuration. Keep them in private storage and do not share the download URL publicly.
Restore
- Choose the recovery point and inspect its contents.
- Review the restore scope: which files and databases will be replaced?
- Take a current backup first if possible.
- Confirm the restore only when you accept losing changes made after the chosen recovery point.
- Test the site, sign-in, and important data after completion.
- Purge the site's cache if old content is still displayed.
For an application provisioned by your hosting service, contact NitHost support to confirm the correct recovery procedure. A file-only restore may leave its database or other application state out of sync.
If a backup or restore fails
Note the domain, snapshot time, action, and exact error. Contact NitHost support before repeating a failed restore. Failed snapshots should not be treated as usable recovery points.
