Database backups

Link a database to its site so it can be included in that site's backup workflow. Confirm that your hosting service has backups enabled.

Who can use this page? Site Managers and Users with the permissions required for the site's backup actions.

What to check

• The database is linked to the correct site.
• Backup history shows a successful snapshot taken after the data you need was saved.
• The snapshot includes the database as well as application files.
• The database engine is available on the destination before a restore or migration.

A file-only archive is not a database backup. For applications provisioned by your hosting service, contact NitHost support to confirm that a complete application restore is available.

Make or restore a backup

Open Site Actions → Backup This Site or Backups & Restore. Follow Run and restore backups and review exactly what a restore will replace before confirming it.

You can also use database export to keep a separate copy before an application update. Exports contain your data and must be stored privately.

If backups are missing

Contact NitHost support with the domain, database name, and the date you need to recover. Backup schedules, retention, and recovery availability depend on your service.
