Delete a site

Deleting a site is permanent for its files and (usually) its databases. The panel forces a deliberate confirmation.

Who can use this page? Site Managers on owned sites — needs manage.

What is removed

• Site files under the site directory (e.g. /var/www/example.com)
• Linked databases that can be dropped
• Site certificate association / logs as described in the confirmation summary
• The site row and vhost

What may be kept

• Remote backups already uploaded (often kept)
• Databases that could not be deleted (listed under Databases as orphaned)

Steps

1. Site Actions → Delete Site
2. Review the deletion summary: files path, databases, last backup age
3. Type the domain name exactly to confirm
4. Confirm delete

The API re-checks the typed domain server-side.

If the site has never been backed up, the summary warns you. Take a backup or export databases first — deleted files cannot be recovered from NitHost alone.

After deletion

• Check Databases for any that failed to drop
• Remove DNS records if the domain is retired
• Prune old certificates if unused (SSL page)
